In 2001, together with Ben Kekana, Hanno founded Sizwe Business Networking, a black-owned enterprise selling IT consumables that soon won government contracts for desktop and software support. In 2008, as Sizwe’s Chief Financial Officer, Hanno initiated a share swap with ConvergeNet as part of which Hanno held 30% ownership of ConvergeNet’s business in return for a 51% stake in the company. This resulted in an immediate boost in growth. Under Hanno’s leadership, Sizwe underwent major restructuring in 2010, which led to a consolidated Group Structure boosting services in five operating business units. By 2011, the small IT shop started by Hanno and Ben had turned into the award winning Sizwe IT Group.

David Kan - Director

David Kan

Director

David co-founded Mustek in 1987 and has been the major shareholder and Chief Executive Officer of Mustek since the Group’s inception. The business started with fifteen PC assemblers and three office/sales staff in a cramped office in Rosebank. Today, Mustek’s staff complement exceeds 600.

Mustek Limited has grown into a world-class corporation, and has been listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange since 1997. Organic growth was financed mostly internally, and, over and above the success of Mecer, Mustek’s proprietary PC brand, subsequent strategic start-ups include Rectron, the SA’s largest IT components distributor.

Under David’s direction, the Mustek Group has developed a culture of accessible, hands-on management and quick decision-making at all levels, enabling it to respond rapidly and flexibly to the needs of dealers, suppliers and the market.

David’s wealth of experience and his extensive international network have enabled Mustek to enjoy timely, effective information in terms of IT hardware and software trends and development.

“A man’s word is his honour” is a principle that he learned from a young age and applies to every aspect of his personal and public life.
